Tested on WordPress 4.0 & ClassiPress Version: 3.3.3

You can find “Report this Ad” functions on many classifieds site around the web. People can use it to report inappropriate content to the site admin. Have you ever missed it in ClassiPress? Well, there are some good and some bad news. The bad news is that this function is not available in the current ClassiPress version. The good news is that the AppThemes developers are planing to bring this function back to ClassiPress. The bad news is that there is no estimated release status when this function will be availabe. The good news is…No, Enough! Let’s start building our own “Report Ad” function using this tutorial.

You like to see a demo first? Go to my demo site and test the look and function:

For this modification we only need to copy the single-ad_listing.php file to our child theme folder and edit it with some additional code. One more additional line in your child themes style.css and that’s it. For the rest we use the functions of the popular “Contact Form 7″ plugin and in addition, the “Contact Form 7 – Dynamic Text Extension” plugin. Sounds complicated? Don’t worry, it’s easier than you think. The result will look like this:

report-abuse-link

Clicking on that link brings you to the report form:

    Hi Rolf,

    Thank you for this very usefull addon!

    here´s How i implemented it…
    Added in my child-themes single-ad_lising.php, right under:
    The following div.

    <?php echo 'Report this ad?‘; ?>

    Used the following CSS rules in my child themes style.css

    p.report {
    background: url(“images/flag_red.png”) no-repeat scroll 0px 5px transparent;
    clear: both;
    padding: 5px 5px 5px 25px;
    float: left;
    font-size: 11px;}

    Now its below the post content, right below the stats. In my opinion a better position.

    Regards,
    Dieter

    The demo link doesn’t work? Is this compatible with 3.9.1 + Classipress 3.3.3?

    Very interested in this, though your demo site is currently down. Could you give us an update as to whether and if it will likely be back up as I’m very interested in seeing more about this report ad function.

    Cheers

    Good night. A month ago i have purchased this article. I’m now wondering if its doable in another theme than classipress. I’m using flatpress, do you think it’s plugable there?
