Change ClassiPress Background

Tested on WordPress 3.6.1 & ClassiPress Version: 3.3.1

ClassiPress comes with a plain grey background color. How about changing the entire ClassiPress background color? Or using a nice texture?

In this tutorial i’ll show you how to set a background management that gets controlled in your WordPress admin area. After setting this up once, you can change your site background in just a few seconds! Sounds good? Here we go:

background-texture

plain-color

Ok, let’s open our child themes functions.php and add this little piece of code:

Save your changes.

Now we need to add some css code to our style.css. Open your child themes style.css and add the following code to the end.

Save your changes.

Are you expecting anything more to do? No, nothing! You are now able to change the background of your ClassiPress site in just no time. Go to your admin area and find => Appearance => Background (we just created this “Background” link) to get a nice new background management like shown on this screenshot:

custom-background-admin

Under “Display Options” you cans define your own color and save it. The entire background will immediately change to that selected color.

But we want more! So let’s ignore the simple color change and continue to set a texture of our choice (as you can find many free ones here: http://www.grsites.com/archive/textures/ )  and repeat it over the entire background. For our tutorial we will use this little fellow (you may copy the sample and save it on your local PC):

wood054

Now go to “Select Image” and upload that image from your local PC to your webspace by clicking on the “Upload” button. You will now see the texture and  some new settings:

custom-background02

Do the settings as shown on the above screenshot and save your setting by clicking on the “Save Changes” button.

Go to your frontpage and enjoy your new created background!

Could you please rate this tutorial before you go? Thank you! :)

    Hello,

I followed your tutorial on the whole but it is only half of my site.

Indeed, the background does not change completely, just a small portion of the site.

    Watch yourself: http://www.tous-pour-un.fr/

    Can you help me please?

    thank you,

    Driss

    Hi,

Any solution to classipress version 3.4.1? I have followed this tutorial to a ‘T’ and it doesn’t work.

Note: If it matters, I am using the simply responsive child-theme, upgraded to the latest version 1.3.4.2
