Show an Approved Sign on specific ads

Tested on WordPress 3.6.1  &  ClassiPress Version: 3.3.1

Sometime it’s helpful for your visitors to see if a specific item has been approved by the website admin. This will show that the admin has checked the item details and will give the visitors a good feeling. But it doesn’t make sens if the ad owners can purchase this sign, so you should not sell it. After we are done here, you can activate this sign on specific listings only from the admin area.

I assume that you have ClassiPress and your own child theme running. Time to get started:

Step 1.

The files we need to customize are:

  • loop-ad_listing.php
  • loop-popular.php
  • single-ad_listing.php
  • style.css

As we don’t change core files directly, we just take a copy of those php files and add them to our child theme folder. Now we start to edit our copies.

So the first file we edit is the /themes/childtheme/loop-ad_listing.php and find this part (around line 22)

Under the above code we add this:

    I got an idea… How about “verified seller” sign? After manually verifying the seller, his profile along with his listings will have the Verified seller sign. :)

      Great idea indeed. This would make classipress a more credible site like PayPal, Ebay etc.

    Cool feature here. May I suggest for a little tweak? Would it be nice to put this approved feature also on the poster information, similar to that of twitter’s “Verified” check marked?

    Hello,

    Sorry for my bad English.

    After following the steps in the tutorial, I get to put the logo of approval, but I can not hide the custom field. What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks for your help.

      Hi Pablete, Did you assign that custom field to a form layout? Because it’s meant to be done only by the admin from the backend.

        Dear Rof,

        The field has been created as a custom field for the admin user.

        According to the data of the table is as follows:

        field_id = 15
        field_name = cp_approved
        field_label = Some title
        field_desc = Some description
        field_type = checkbox
        field_values = Si (yes)
        field_tooltip = Some tooltip
        field_search = 0
        field_perm = 0
        field_core = 1
        field_rec = 0
        field_owner = admin
        field_created = 0000-00-00 00:00:00
        field_modified = 0000-00-00 00:00:00
        field_min_length = 0
        field_validation = (check)

        I do not know if there’s something I’m doing wrong.

    I followed step by step throughout the tutorial but when I enter the single ad, written and logo are not there.
    Instead you see the logo on the homepage.

    However, the idea of creating “User guaranteed” is great, you do a tutorial?

    Appearance hear from you,
    Pascal

    once again ive done this tutorial and nothing has happened. ive bought a few of these and only got 1 of them to work, Ive put one of these comments under the “report this ad function tutorial” when i had trouble with that while trying to make it work, my comment was there for the evening then the next day it was apparently taken down, i still havent recieved any response and since the tutorial links are only good for 2 days im kind of stuck, with expired links and no answers to my questions. Awsome! i understand its only 3.45 each tutorial, but i would hope there would be some sort of assistance. i need to know if there is any updates to these tutorials because out of the 4 mods i paid for only 1 works. HELP!!!

    There is a little bug if you see the homepage with a smartphone… the Approved Sign is in a strange position and cover some words in the description ad.
    You can fix it removing the visualization of this image for smartphone/tablet like “negotiable sign” and “Price sign”:

    – OPEN: /wp-content/themes/childtheme/style.css
    – SEARCH: .negotiable-list,
    – AFTER ADD: .approved-sign,
    – Save and upload
