Remove default WordPress widgets from your ClassiPress site

Tested on WordPress 3.6.1  &  ClassiPress Version: 3.3.1

Do you really need those default WordPress widgets on your ClassiPress site? Well, i don’t! WordPress installs some standard widgets like Meta, Archives, RSS, Blog Categories, Recent Posts etc. etc… You can remove them by placing another widget, but they still show up in the admin widgets list.  Why to have them if we never need them? So let’s unregister those widgets using our child themes functions.php. It’s done in less than 3 minutes from now, so let’s do it straight away.

I assume that you have AppThemes ClassiPress and your own child theme running. Let’s start:

Open your /themes/your-child-theme/functions.php and add the following code:

Save the file.

That’s it. Go to your WordPress Admin Area, => Appearance => Widgets and check if they are gone. You may edit the above list if you like to keep a specific widget.

Enjoy and don’t forget to rate this tutorial if it was useful for you. Thanks!
